Hyderabad: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, the daughter and advisor to USA president Donald Trump, initiated the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad city today.
The annual business meeting — its 8th edition this year and co-sponsored by the USA — is being conducted for the first time in South Asia.
The theme for the 3-day summit starting Tuesday is “Women First, Prosperity for All”.
Addressing first, Telangana state Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has emphasized the ‘ease of business’ atmosphere this nation now claims. On Modi’s humble starts, she said: “From your childhood selling tea to your election as India’s Prime Minister, you have proven transformational change is possible.” “India has a friend in the White House,” she hassled.
Further fawning the efforts of Narendra Modi, Ivanka stated, “What you are accomplishing here (in India) is truly amazing.”
Ivanka stated that she was happy to be in Hyderabad city, which is developing as the improvement hub of India. Ivanka stated, “It’s incredible to be in this ancient city (Hyderabad) overflowing with technology, Hyderabad tech centers might even outshine your world-famous biriyani.”
She even said that “The people of India inspire us all.”
She urged on women entrepreneurs to trek forward, speaking about how women have come frontward in the past decade to become businesspersons. “The progress of humanity is incomplete without the empowerment of women,” she told.
Ivanka, a woman entrepreneur herself has stated that she was eager to see so many women entrepreneurs under one roof. “I am pleased to see that for the first time a maximum of 1,500 women entrepreneurs is partaking in such an event,” she said.
“Only when females are empowered to thrive, will our families, our financial prudence, and our societies reach their fullest potential,” Ivanka stated.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the inaugural speech. He stated that this summit’s focus on women has made this edition exceptional. He said: “In Indian mythology, woman is the personification of shakti. Our history is full of women of extraordinary talent and determination.”
Recollecting the contribution of women in India, the Indian Prime Minister said, “Indian women endure to lead in different walks of life. Our space programs, including the Mars Orbiter Mission, have had a huge contribution from women researchers. Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams, both of Indian basis, have been part of United States space missions.”
“Three out of four oldest High Courts in India is today headed by women judges. Our sportswomen have done the nation proud. This city of Hyderabad is home to PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal, and Sania Mirza, who have fetched laurels to India,” the Prime Minister said.
He even added, “We have pushed women into grassroots decision-making.”
Speaking about the Atal Innovation Mission, Modi stated the government is opening Tinkering Labs in around 900 schools to endorse a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship amid children.
Flattering the Goods and Services Tax (GST), Narendra Modi said, “A historic renovation of the taxation system has been newly undertaken, fetching in the GST across the nation.”
The PM invited many investors to invest in India and stated, “To my entrepreneur friends all over the world, I would like to say come make in India, invest in India, for India, and for the world.”
“The conference is being held for the first time in South Asia. It fetches together, leading entrepreneurs, investors, academicians, think-tanks and extra stakeholders to propel the global entrepreneurship ecology,” Modi stated.
Modi even said that he saw supremacy in India’s young generation, who “can make the world a better place”. “I can see 800 million tycoons in India.”

This will be the initial GES in which women are anticipated to be a majority (52.5 percent) of the contributors. The theme of this year’s summit validates the commitment of the US and the Indian government to the belief that when women are parsimoniously empowered, their communities and nations thrive, NITI Ayog CEO Amitabh Kant has stated.
The summit will mostly focus on four thematic sectors — energy and infrastructure; financial technology and digital economy; and media and entertainment sectors, according to Amitabh Kant.
