Andhra Pradesh government is intense on positioning AP as the most striking destination for EVs.
Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB), is moving up to set up an ‘Electric Vehicles Task Force’ that will coordinate and progress synergies amid the departments, trade and all extra key stakeholders, relevant to the specificity of the task force.
Andhra Pradesh state government is intense on putting the state, as India’s most striking destination for Electric Vehicles (EV) manufacturing and is starting a long-term plan for making an ecosystem for the growth of Electric Vehicles (EV) in the AP state.

The executive vice-chairman of APEDB, S.P. Tucker, said, “Japan has come forward to cooperate with Andhra Pradesh to form an EV city. This eco-system will signify a new value series with OEMs, service providers, suppliers, vehicle users, financial services, mobility providers and the government playing a significant role.”
Andhra Pradesh has a prosperous ecosystem for automobile and module manufacturing, with an existence of marquee players like Kia Motors, Isuzu, Hero Motors, Ashok Leyland, Rockman industries, Apollo Tyres and Amara Raja Batteries.
“The AP Government is also appealing to players across the value chain and is fixed to hold a review meet with numerous stakeholders to ensure that the state originates with a robust policy,” Mr. Tucker said.
The state plans to stay on road shows in Korea, Japan, China and Taiwan to forge partnerships in the EV part and enlarge the EV ecosystem in Andhra.
Numerous investors have shown interest in the manufacturing of e-autos, vehicles, and buses in the state. The APEDB, would flawlessly ease their entrance into Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Krishna Kishore, chief executive major, APEDB, said, “The government targets to drive the EV rebellion. The APEDB will empower them to enable this amid various stakeholders and make sure that Andhra Pradesh rolls out a complete policy.
“Accelerated motivation on EVs will kick-start the state’s voyage towards accepting cleaner technology and deliver solutions for tomorrow’s agility.”
AP is also a household to some of the main names in India in battery manufacturing like HBL Power Systems, Amara Raja Batteries, and Nippo Batteries.
Though India is yet to convert self-sufficient in manufacturing lithium batteries that are vital to run EVs, the existence of big scale battery builders in the state of Andhra Pradesh would be the best advantage, due to interactions and connections in the value chain. The EV strategy will be urbanized in line with the current Automobile and Auto-component strategy in the state.
