Android O : Latest version of Google’s OS

Android O is the latest version of  Google’s mobile OS which will be named as Android Oreo, Android Orange or Android Oh! Henry?.

The final version of Google Android is Android N which was released in August 2016 as Android Nougat, and now the company is going to release the latest and greatest version of Google’s mobile OS which can be called as either Android Oreo, Android Orange, Android Oatcake or Android Oh! Henry.

The new version of Android which will be most likely to be announced at Google I/O on 17 May. There are still new features and fixes adding to Android Nougat. At the end of January Google released a beta version of Android Nougat 7.1.2, which it says is “an incremental maintenance release focused on refinements, so it includes a number of bug fixes and optimizations, along with a small number of enhancements for carriers and users”.

The final version of Android Nougat 7.1.2 is expected to be released on 3 April 2017.

Expected Features:

According to VentureBeat reports, Google is working on a number of new features for Android O that may or may not make it through to the final build.

This feature is expected to ease copying text from one app and pasting it within another by providing suggestions in the second application as to what you might be about to type based on what you have done in the previous app.

Opening addresses in Google Maps

In the present version of Android it is not possible to share your current location as it is in iOS, but according to VentureBeat there are some new changes in the coming version of Androids that dealing with making addresses easier. If you have written the text message of any location and if you click on it, in Android N it does nothing but the latest version of Android could open that address in Google Maps.  It was unclear whether this new feature will be functional only in Google’s Messages app, or in all messaging apps on Android O.


With this latest version, the users can quickly access a particular app by simply drawing the letter on the screen which automatically jumps to the given app. For example, drawing the letter C would open up Contacts.
