Solar-powered LED lights to be fitted in Vizag beach, Andhra Pradesh.
Visakhapatnam: The verdict to have solar-powered street lights has given an enhancement to green energy, in the Vizag city. Solar-powered LED poles will quickly light up the road to the beach.
Beneath the Smart City Project, 4 to 6 meters, standalone street lights with a solar LED lighting scheme will dot the Beach Road at regular intervals from the Coastal Battery Junction to Kurupam Junction.
GVMC administrators are of the opinion that these LED lights have carried down their electricity bills. As these LEDs also utilize solar energy, they are energy-efficient and efficient.
The venture has been divided into two portions, with the first one starting from Coastal Battery to Park Hotel with a projected budget of Rs 8.15 crore and the other portion from Park Hotel to Kurupam Junction at Rs 2.62 crore.
The Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Limited (GVSCCL) has already asked bids for the projects under the Smart City mission. Parallel initiatives have been taken up, by a few smart metropolises so far.
The private player will be set the task of making the design, organizing the supply, installation and the commissioning of the 4m and 6m high street lighting standalone poles of solar LED integrated lighting fittings with the battery within five months of taking up the venture.
The LEDs must deliver light for at least 5 years and ensure that the intensity of these lights doesn’t source any interruption, the corporation has inquired the private company to uphold the average lighting at a minimum of 23 lux, with at least 10 lux in amid two poles.
The smart lighting system will work in a way that the intensity level will not be exaggerated, even if there is no access to solar power on dull or gloomy days.
