A routing AIADMK committee, to be led by Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, is also anticipated to be appointed at the meeting.
Chennai: The late chief minister of Tamil Nadu J. Jayalalithaa’s long-time assistant and friend V.K. Sasikala will be removed as “provisional” general secretary of the AIADMK at the much-anticipated general council programmed here on Tuesday. A routing committee, to be led by Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, is also anticipated to be appointed at the meeting.
Three determinations —remove Sasikala from the post to which she was appointed in the month of December 2016 instantly after the demise of Jayalalithaa, endorsing the union of opponent EPS and OPS groups and employing a steering committee to run the matters of the party till a “full-time” general secretary is fixed — are anticipated to be moved at the meeting and might be passed consistently.
Decks for the behavior of general council were cleared by the Madras High Court late on Monday night as it discharged a petition trooped by T.T.V. Dhinakaran follower and Perambur MLA P. Vetrivel who claimed a stay on the meeting anticipated to be joined by a majority of 2,780 members. Moreover, MPs and MLAs, headquarter secretaries will contribute in the council meeting as “special invitees” and a nearly full attendance is anticipated.
As the EPS-OPS faction fear followers of the Sasikala family would make trouble at the venue — Sri Varu Venkatachalapathy Palace — more than a hundred “private security staffs” have been arranged, besides the heavy existence of police workers.
“The foremost agenda of the meeting is to take away Sasikala from the post of temporary general secretary and from the party as it was one of the main pre-conditions set by O. Panneerselvam for integration of his faction with EPS camp,” a senior leader told media.
